Description:
The Kimball Art Center located at the base of Main Street in Park City, Utah was completely renovated for General Motors to use as a hospitality suite during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. The project was a complete interior renovation including all new lighting, Olympic artwork displays, bar and entertainment areas, indoor water fountain, floor plan changes, new floor coverings, new ceilings and wall finishes. A new slab-on-deck exterior patio was installed including the installation of a custom local built tie rod flame sculpture wrapped in wood and copper. Beneath the new elevated patio an on-grade patio was constructed with brick pavers decorated by children from the local school district. After completion of the games, the space was converted back to an art gallery except for the new exterior patios which are still used by the center today.
